Project Description:

The St. Landry Parish Landfill is located in Washington, Louisiana. This project was voluntarily installed as a carbon credit project to reduce the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions into the atmosphere. The St. Landry Parish Landfill was the very first Landfill Carbon Credit project in the state of Louisiana. The emissions credits have been registered and sold through the California-based Climate Action Reserve (CAR), since Landfill Gas Collection and Control System first began operating in 2009. In March 2012, the Bio-CNG project began operations. When operating at full capacity, the Bio-CNG project produces 250 Gas Gallon Equivalents (GGE)/day of CNG fuel from 50 scfm (55-58% methane) of LFG for use by a total of twenty (20) fleet vehicles including landfill and law enforcement units. The CNG fuel has been produced at this facility for less than half the cost of gasoline. This project was the very first Bio-CNG project developed in the state of Louisiana.

Contribution:

FE&C personnel assisted with Air permitting, Landfill Gas Collection and Control System Design, and Treatment System/Flareskid Performance Specification preparation.
